Lifestyle Seniors Guide Superheroes of Dayton 5/26/2020 | By Seniors Guide Staff River Oaks “Megan Whitford may be the newest member of our team at River Oaks, but she is making waves in our community! We have all had to accommodate the ever-changing restrictions and regulations surrounding this pandemic, but Megan has risen above and beyond. Our residents living with dementia haven’t skipped a beat and are so lucky to have such wonderful, caring, and kind individuals like Megan, caring for them daily. Between phone calls, FaceTime and window visits, traveling birthday carts, homemade smoothies, and outdoor spring photos, Megan has kept us all on our toes. She truly is a hero, not only for our residents, but for their families that miss them dearly.” Years Ahead Health Center Dr. Melissa Butler is one of our amazing Super Heroes at Years Ahead Health Center. She has been in the forefront of ensuring our senior population remains safe during this crisis and continues to provide care for those who have chronic illnesses. Working with the entire provider group at Years Ahead Health Center, Dr. Butler has been vital to Kettering Physician Network’s adoption of new visit types, such as tele-visit and virtual visits so patient care is not interrupted and we can keep patients in the safety of their homes as much as possible. For those patients who must be seen by their physician, Dr. Butler set aside morning hours for well visits, which allows patients to have follow up appointments for chronic disease management. Her heart for seniors’ health and safety and her desire for Years Ahead Health Center to remain a beacon of light during this storm has been reassuring for patients and staff as well. We are blessed to have dedicated physicians and leadership at Years Ahead Health Center, and we are proud to claim her as a “Super Hero” here at Years Ahead Health Center! Thank you, Dr. Butler! St. Leonard I would like to nominate Jennifer Gibbs from St. Leonard. When our Executive Director stepped down at the end of March, Jennifer Gibbs graciously accepted the position. In this unprecedented time, under such difficult circumstances, she has stepped up to lead St. Leonard during the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking on the Executive Director role at any time is a huge responsibility but to accept that role under the current circumstances in which we are living is a brave venture. With heart, soul and diligence, she has kept our campus safe and healthy and the residents are not only being well cared for, but they are thriving. Jennifer Gibbs is a super-hero in my book. If you asked her though, her reply would humbly be that she is the one surrounded by superheroes in every department. Our culture is one of working as a team and stepping in wherever needed. Beehive Homes of Springboro “Kim brings such a positive, high energy, to our home at Beehive! She has been keeping our Residents busy with fun and interactive activities. She makes sure our Residents are enjoying themselves, and living their best lives, during these extremely difficult times! She is very compassionate and caring. She has her own small business that has been shut down due to our current conditions and she has really stepped up in our home. She has been working longer hours, picking up shifts as needed, helping around our home and going above and beyond with providing even more activities. She is such a hard worker who is always on the go assisting our Residents. We are very lucky to have her at Beehive Homes of Springboro. So here is to one of our Buzzworthy Healthcare Superhero!!” Read More Seniors Guide Staff Seniors Guide has been addressing traditional topics and upcoming trends in the senior living industry since 1999.
