Jones With the heat of summer upon us, you may be propping up your feet in the AC instead of getting in your steps around the neighborhood. But just because it’s too hot to exercise outdoors doesn’t mean you have to stop moving altogether. Here are five easy ways to get started on a good indoor exercise regime, right in the comfort of your own home (no exercise equipment required!). 1. Dancing Queen Zumba, one of the most popular fitness programs around, is essentially just moving your body to the beat in order to burn calories. You can hold your own “Zumba” class in your living room by simply turning on your favorite songs and dancing your heart out to get your heart rate up! 2. Cleaning: It’s an Indoor Exercise Regime! Cleaning can be a great form of cardio. If you put a little elbow grease into pushing that vacuum or washing those windows, you’ll get a good workout while also getting your house spick and span. 3. March It Out Take a lesson from those elegant high-stepping horses. While you’re just walking from room to room, bring your knees up close to your chest with each step. You’ll look a little silly, but you’ll feel the burn in no time. 4. “Step” into an Indoor Exercise Regime If you have a two-story home, you have a built-in piece of exercise equipment right in between those floors for your indoor exercise regime. (Even a couple of steps between the garage and house will do!) Climb up and down your steps as quickly as possible and repeat several times.
